 Morris-Turnberry, Ontario - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Municipality of Morris-Turnberry is a municipality in Huron County, Ontario, Canada.
It is located in the north portion of Huron County, near the Bruce County border, southeast of Wingham.
It was formed as an amalgamation of the former Morris and Turnberry townships in 2001 in an Ontario-wide local government restructuring imposed by the government of that time.

 Huron County Townships
This township is bounded on the north by Howick and the Township of Wallace in the County of Perth; on the south by McKillop and Logan in Perth; on the west by the Township of Morris; and on the east by the Township of Elma in Perth.
Morris is laid out in the shape of a parallelogram, bounded on the north by Turnberry, on the south by Hullett and McKillop, on the east by Grey, and on the west by Wawanosh.  The total acreage is 55,160.  It is supplied with water by the south branch of the Maitland River.
Turnberry was the last of the Huron County townships which Alexander Wilkinson surveyed and his first map is dated 1852.  The first land sale for Turnberry was 1854.

In the 1871 Census of Ontario Province, Huron Co., I found "Clinton" King, age 41, born in Ontario, religion--Wesleyan Methodist (his father, William, was Methodist), Irish heritage, occupation--farmer, in District 26 (Huron North), Subdistrict G (Morris), Division 1, Page 33.
The 1900 census states DeWitt's parents were also born in Canada, but his death certificate states that his father, William, was born in Vermont and his mother, Sibyl Clark, was born in New York.
(Mary Ellen Dulmage-[2128] was born on 26 Apr 1839 in South Bay, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada and died on 2 Sep 1925 in Detroit, Michigan (Buried Evergreen Cemetery).) The cause of death was Asthma.

In the early 1850s, settlers began moving into the townships in the Queen's Bush north of the Huron Tract.
One of these townships, Turnberry, was surveyed by 1853 and a plot for a market town designated where two branches of the Maitland River met.
Among the earliest settlers on the plot was John Cornyn who was operating a hotel here in 1861.
