 MCHS - Morrison County History
The county was named for fur trading brothers, William and Allan Morrison.
The event that prodded further development of the county was the building of Fort Ripley.
This occurred in 1889, with Nathan Richardson, one of the original organizers of Morrison County, becoming the first mayor of the new city.

 Traffic shift planned for Highway 371 in Morrison County
The traffic shift is necessary, as crews near the completion of the new four-lane segment of Highway 371 between Highway 10 north of Little Falls and Morrison County Highway 48 near Fort Ripley.
After Labor Day, weather permitting, the new southbound lanes will open to traffic to Morrison County Highway 46, where traffic will be diverted onto the existing southbound lanes using the new interchange exit ramp.
The detour is necessary as crews reconstruct new Morrison County Highway 76.
