Marcus served in Congress and as a long-time Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Court.
His son, also Marcus Morton, went on to be Chief Justice of Massachusetts Supreme Judicial court, and his grandson, James Madison Morton would also be an Associate Justice of the High Court, 1890-1913.

THE Honorable MARCUS MORTON, a Justice of this Court from the fifteenth day of April, 1869, and Chief Justice from the sixteenth day of January, 1882, to the twenty-seventh day of August, 1890, died at his residence in Andover on the tenth day of February, 1891.
He was of the blood of the Pilgrims, tracing his descent from George Morton of the Plymouth Colony by his marriage with Ann Southworth of the company of the Mayflower; and he possessed to a marked degree the traits of the men who founded and peopled New England.
He was born at Taunton, April 8, 1819 the son of Marcus Morton who was from 1826 to 1840 a Justice of this Court, and in 1840 and 1843 Governor of the Commonwealth.

MORTON, Marcus, jurist, born in Freetown, Massachusetts, 19 February, 1784; died in Taunton, Massachusetts, 6 February, 1864.
He was on the state supreme bench in 1825-'39, was elected governor of Massachusetts by one vote over Edward Everett in 1840, and from 1845 until his resignation in 1848 was collector of the port in Boston.
He advocated the restriction of slavery, and throughout the civil war was an ardent supporter of the National cause.--His son, Marcus, jurist, born in Taunton, 8 April, 1819, was graduated at Brown in 1838, studied two years at Harvard law-school, and was admitted to the bar in 1841.

"In the Spring of 1946 the diner was closed while preparations were being made to relocate it to10th and Green St. Marcus Hook, Nick was killed in an auto accident in Glouster, N.J. "The existing Diner at 9th and Sproul Sts.
She says there used to be a fabric store close by, and that she remembers the ladies from there going to the diner for lunch.
My sister-in-law is 76 years old, so I asked her, but she had no recollections either.(I even asked about a burnt out shell.) I can definitely say it is not the same one as 9th and Sproul.
