Greenock Morton Football Club are an Association football club, whose first team currently plays in the Bell's Scottish Football League Second Division.
Greenock Morton Football Club are popularly known as Morton F.C. - a tradition which predates the club's renaming in 1994 to celebrate the links with its home town of Greenock.
A 4-0 defeat at Queen of the South on April 27, 2002 confirmed back-to-back relegations for Morton.

A legal attempt by Morton Football Club to switch its Scottish Cup tie with Rangers to Hampden has been rejected by the Court of Session in Edinburgh.
The SFA rejected an appeal at the end of last week from Morton to play the game at Cappielow, which has a reduced capacity of 8,000 due to redevelopment work.
Morton said they could best be accommodated at Hampden Park.

There are records, still in the club's possession, that stretch back to the 1930’s and these include minutes of meetings and accounts for the period up to the late 1950’s.
The 50’s and 60’s were probably the most successful for the team and it was during this time that Morton FC swept all before them in various competitions when they were members of the Peterborough League.
The 1970’s and early 80’s were a particularly hard time and had it not been for the efforts of Godfrey and Elsie Fisher the club would almost certainly have folded at this point.
