Moseley Shoals is a 1996 album by the British rock group Ocean Colour Scene and one of most important albums of the of the Britpop era.
One for the Road (with its tune inspired by The Eagles and lyrics referencing Leah Betts, was also due to be released, but the band decided to concentrate on 1997 release Marchin' Already.
In 1998 Q magazine readers voted Moseley Shoals the 33rd greatest album of all time.

It doesn`t see any significant musical development or progression from Moseley Shoals, so while it`s a welcome addition to their cannon of songs one gets the impression that they`ve rather lost their forward momentum.
After the great success of the 'Moseley Shoals' album, this album is a total and complete let down.
It is a very similar album to 'Mosely Shoals', and despite their previous album being so good, this is not a great thing.

This is the best album Ocean Colour Scene have ever made, their most famous songs are on there - 'Riverboat Song' and 'Day We Caught the Train' If you are considering buying an OCS album this is definitely the one to get.
Moseley Shoals was released 4 years ago, and the songs still sound great today - in most cases better than songs made today.
I first heard the 'The RiverBoat Song' when it was used by Chris Evans on TFI Friday, and since then I feel in love with that guitar riff, it's one of the best I have ever heard.

Making a minor splash in the Madchester scene of the mid '90s, this album was recognized mostly for the impressively rock-steady, neo-psychedelic single "Sway." The rest of the album doesn't know if it wants to be more of a traditional rock-out or a White Album-esque Brit pop effort.
Either way, the band fares much better with the follow-up album, Moseley Shoals, which rode the Oasis wave into the mid-'90s as Paul Weller assists in backing vocals and keyboards.

When the Birmingham quartet recorded Moseley Shoals in their tiny home studio, there wasn't a label that wanted them.
The album is packed with great tracks, The singalong 'The day we caught the train', the catchy 'The riverboat song' and 'the circle'(Supposedly based on the number 11 bus route around Birmingham) are probably the albums highlights, 'You've got it bad' and 'get away' are great album finishers.
OCS have gone on to produce some poor stuff since then, Marchin' already was a sad let down, but for that moment, 90's defining albums, Moseley shoals is there.

Mechanical Wonder is one of the best kept secrets of 2001 and a great follow up to Moseley shoals, in this age of Teenage pop groups and electronic computerized music.
This album in all, is a classic, maybe not as much as Moseley Shoals, but some may feel that it still stand pretty strong alone, not being compared with the last USA release.
