ENOCH The Book of Enoch, or, as it is sometimes called, the Ethiopic Book of Enoch, in contradistinction to the Slavonic Book of Enoch (see later), is perhaps the most important of all the apocryphal or pseudapocryphal Biblical writings for the history of religious thought.
Enoch is clothed by Michael in the raiment of God's glory and instructed in the secrets of nature and of man, which he wrote down in 366 books.
God reveals to Enoch the history of the creation of the earth and the seven planets and circles of the heaven and of man, the story of the fallen angels, the duration of the world through 7000 years, and its millennium of rest.

 Enoch
The Hebraic-Christian bible refers to Enoch as the seventh from Adam [1] and son of Lamed, a member of the line of descent through Seth, the fourth son of Adam and Eve, by which the knowledge of God was preserved.
Enoch is said to have filled three hundred books with his writings, whilst three hundred and sixty-five (the number of days in a normal year) refers to the completion and perfection of a solar time cycle, and thus signifies the full initiate or master as well as the sun (e.g.
The story of Enoch (Atlas), who is doomed to stand upon the earth and uphold the heavens with his arms, thereby keeping apart the earth and the sky as well as right from left, is an allegory of this fundamental polarity.

In the book of Deuteronomy, Moses writes of the land of Moab, "The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims" (Deut.2:10-11).
Moses tells us of the land of Moab, "That also was accounted a land of giants; GIANTS dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims; a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead" (v.20-21).

Enoch walked with the gods (Elohim, always mistranslated as God) 300 years… and he was not, for the gods (Elohim) took him.
Enoch appears in the epistle to the Hebrews as proof of a man who “by faith was translated that he should not see death for he pleased God.” Enoch and Elijah, in Christian tradition, were the two “witnesses” (Rev 11:3) as men who had not died.
Enoch, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Revelation are all narratives of similar visions of a sun god enthroned in heaven, or rather beyond heaven because his throne is on a crystal sea (Rev 4:6;15:2) or pavement—the sky itself is beneath him.

 Ben Padiah (Angel) Scroll
Attributed to a certain "Yeshua ben Padiah": Since I have seen two versions of the first line of the scroll, each attributing the scroll to a different name, the attribution of this scroll to Yeshua ben Padiah should be considered tentative until the original or a photograph is produced.
The vision of Yeshua ben Padiah is stated to have taken place at Ein Eglatain (located near the Eastern shore of the Dead Sea on the Lisan).
This is similar to the ascent to the heavenlies found in 1 Enoch in that the visionary visits the heavenly realm and is provided with a guided tour by a heavenly being.

Apparently, Yeshuah Ben Padiah's description was of the Gnostic Archons as being the same as the Essene Annunaki, who were already at that time being compared to the "sons of God" that "bred with the wives of men" described in the Book of Genesis.
If, indeed, Yeshuah Ben Padiah of the Essene Qumran community is the same person on whom the Apocryphal Gnostic Gospels are based would still not necessarily prove that the Gnostic Apocryphal Gospels are based on the same person as the Jesus described in the New Testament, however.
Therefore, it really wouldn't matter if Yeshuah Ben Padiah was a bridge uniting the Essenes of Qumran with the terms of Gnosticism, because it wouldn't change the fact that the Jesus described in the Canonised Gospels does not use Gnostic terms, nor has He been proven to have been a priest from Qumran.

Toward the end of the thirteenth century Moses de Leon wrote or compiled a cabalistic midrash to the Pentateuch full of strange mystic allegories, and ascribed it to Simeon ben Yoḥai, the great saint of the Tannaim.
She had asked him several times, she said, why he had put his teachings into the mouth of another, but he had always answered that doctrines put into the mouth of the miracle-working Simeon ben Yoḥai would be a rich source of profit.
At any rate the contents of the book have been accepted and approved by all cabalists, and can by no means be regarded as mere inventions and forgeries of Moses de Leon.

Enoch is sometimes further taken as a type of the "pre-tribulation rapture" of the Body of Christ at the end of this dispensation!
Now in the case of Enoch the language used of him in Genesis and Hebrews is incredibly terse and great care must be taken to interpret it correctly and in harmony with what the rest of holy Scripture teaches on the state of the dead.
In fact, we contend that the author of the Wisdom of Solomon had Enoch in mind when he penned this passage, and that he used Enoch as an example of what happens and why-- whenever any righteous person is prematurely removed from the land of the living.

By Common Consent » What is Joseph Smith’s Enoch?
The most complete is 1 Enoch, the Ethiopian Enoch; it’s available in numerous translations, notably those of R.H. Charles, J.T. Milik, Matthew Black and, the one I use, James H. Charlesworth in his The old Testament Pseudepigrapha, Vol I, Doubleday, 1983.
That is just as bizarre a suggestion as that there are actual parallels between 1 Enoch and Moses that Joseph Smith very likely couldn’t have known about (having presumably never heard of the Ethiopian Enoch or any apocryphal Enoch material) and that therefore support Joseph’s calling as a true prophet.
One is that the Enoch material are a genuine translation of ancient records, and that parallels with late pseudepigraphic sources arise because those late sources reflect the underlying truth present in the Joseph Smith texts.

Enoch is quoted directly in the book of Jude and about 100 passages in the New Testament are rooted in the 1 Enoch phrasing.
And Enoch, the blessed and righteous man of the Lord, took up (his parable) while his eyes were open and he saw, and said "(This is) a holy vision from the heavens which the angels showed me; and I heard from them everything and I understood.
The argument would be that the authors of 1 Enoch were consistent about their pseudepigraphic attribution of the material to Enoch and therefore did not commit the anachronism of having him teach and obey the law of Moses.

He instructs Enoch in “all the deeds of the Lord, the earth and the sea, and all the elements and the courses...and the Hebrew language, every kind of language of the new song of the armed troops and everything that it is appropriate to learn” (23.1-2).
It is important to notice that Vereveil’s suggestion that Enoch be seated occurs after Enoch has been “brought in front of the face of the Lord” (22.6), and after he has been invited by the Lord “to stand in front of his face forever” (22.6-7).
This fact, that Enoch was seated in the text of 2 Enoch is one more powerful example that further strengthens the hypothesis regarding the connection of the text of 2 Enoch with the Merkabah tradition.

Enoch had ascended to the throne and been transformed into a ‘son of man’ (1 En.71).
Origen’s use of 1 Enoch, (a deposit of priestly material), whether by quotation or allusion, is a clear testimony to knowledge of this tradition (First Principles 1.3.3; 4.4.8; Homily on Numbers 28.2), although he recognised that it was not regarded as Scripture (Celsus 5.54; Homily on Numbers 28.2).
He was emphatic that mysteries of the apocalypses concerning the heavenly gates for the soul were rooted in Scripture, and owed nothing to influences from Persia and the Mithras cult as Celsus had maintained.

It is clear from the internal evidence of the Talmud that the teachings of the Rabbis continued to be studied orally throughout the Talmudic era, and this continued to be the practice in the Babylonian academies well into the middle ages...

Although it is claimed by the Lubavitch, Nazarene and Hebraic Roots Movements that the source of the 7 Noahide Laws is the Torah (Genesis-Deuteronomy), the evidence of history proves that the Talmud and Mishnah are derived from Babylonian traditions that Jesus said contradicted and nullified the teaching of Scripture.
