A member of the Labor Party, Sneh is the son of Moshe Sneh, who was one of the heads of the Haganah.
Sneh served in the Nahal infantry battalion from 1962 to 1964.
In 1992 Sneh was elected to the Knesset, serving as minister of health from 1994 to 1996.

Sneh was chairman of the Central Committee of the Polish Zionist Committee, 1935-39 and was a prominent editor in the Jewish press.
Sneh joined the Hagana, and became one of its chiefs, playing a key role in illegal immigration and the armed resistance to the British.
Sneh sat in the Knesset, representing Mapam 1949-53 and the Communists, from 1953 to his death (except 1965-69).

The day before the assassination Israeli Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett publicly accused Bernadotte of “bias against the state of Israel and in favor of the Arab states.” Stephen Green points to evidence that the Israeli government was itself directly involved in the killing.
On the night of the assassination the Czech consulates in Jerusalem and Haifa were busy processing some 30 visas for Stern gang members “who had been rounded up for their involvement in the planning and execution” of the assassination.
In 1954-55, Sharett anticipated the findings of the commission which ultimately established that Chief of Staff Moshe Dayan, Director General of the Ministry of Defense Shimon Peres, and Intelligence Chief Colonel Benjamin Givli were the culprits.

A short time after the end of World War II, when it became clear that the British government would not abandon its anti-Zionist policy of the 1939 White Paper, the Jewish Agency charged the Haganah with leading the "Jewish resistance movement" against this policy.
The implementation of the resistance plan was entrusted to Moshe Sneh, then head of the national command, and Yiæøak Sadeh, acting chief of staff.
