Most-wanted Iraqi playing cards - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the 2003 invasion of Iraq by a United States-led coalition, the U.S. military developed a set of playing cards to help troops identify the most-wanted members of President Saddam Hussein's government, mostly high-ranking Baath Party members or members of the Revolutionary Command Council.
Troops often play cards to pass the time, and seeing the names, faces and titles of the wanted Iraqis during their games will help soldiers and Marines in case they run into the wanted individuals in the field, Brooks said.
The deck of cards was first announced publicly in Iraq on April 11th 2003, in a press conference by Army Brig.

The US Playing Card Co., the manufacturer producing an 'authentic' set of the military version of the playing cards, used two of their own distinctive cards, trademarking those cards after the military 'borrowed' the template.
When you buy the playing cards that some of the troops are buying, there are two U.S. card manufacturers and one foreign card manufacturer (who wants to remain anonymous, who I am familiar with) that made casino quality cards and they all have a distinctive mark on the jokers.
The DOD stated the personality identification cards were produced "to provide a reminder of key Iraqi personnel of interest and to provide a recreational resource for troops in the field," "We try to have things that have dual use whenever we can," stated a Central Command spokesman, U.S. Army Major Randi Steffy.
