“Mothman”, as the strange creature came to be called, is perhaps one of the strangest creatures to ever grace the annals of weirdness in America.
Many would come to believe that the sightings of Mothman, as well as UFO sightings and encounters with “men in fl” in the area, were all related.
The Mothman was apparently incapable of speech and gave off a screeching sound.

Mothman has been sighted many places in Virginia and West Virginia, but the largest number of sightings happened in or near a place known as "the TNT Area," an abandoned ammunitions dump dating from World War II that is near Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

Mothman's red glowing eyes, set into the "shoulders," (the head was not an outstanding characteristic) seem to have been more terrifying than either the stature of the creature or the ten-foot span of its wings.
Perhaps the light sensitive eyes of the Mothman were slow to recover from the blinding effects of automobile headlights and other brilliant light sources.
My point is that the subtle facts recorded by independent witnesses plainly indicated that Mothman had eyes that were more efficient in gathering the available light so that this creature could "see" in the dark.

Groups ranging from preschool daycare kids to the convalescence care elderly enjoy the mix of video, color slides, pictures, and of course live specimens of moths, caterpillars, butterflies (more caterpillars) beetles, bees, and bugs.
Due to medical limitations I am temporarily suspending Mothman bookings from September 15th through December 31st, 2007.

As the UFO sightings were being reported the next thing to take place was numerous reports by the citizens of poltergeist activities, strange lights in the sky, strange sounds, and meeting the ever illusive "men in fl." Soon after that the Silver Bridge collapsed.
This is their way of explaining the paranormal phenomenon that takes place in the area, then, just as the mothman disappeared after 13 months, all other paranormal activities disappeared as well.

On December 15, 1967 The Silver Bridge spanning from Point Pleasant, WV and Gallipolis, OH was covered with rush hour traffic when suddenly cables ripped off moorings and the bridge and cars plunged into the water.
Though Mothman sightings are still reported, the reports aren't of the same frequency as they were those 13 months in 1966-67.

For those of you as uninitiated as I was, the Mothman is a creature whose sightings, some believe, precedes tragic events.
Perhaps my previous exposure to the Mothman story affected my perception but I don't think so as it wasn't what I envisioned it would be going in.

Before the disaster, there were more than one hundred reports of Mothman sightings, as well as other anomalies (the usual UFO sightings, green aliens with anal probes, etc.), many of which were reported in the local paper and enough to convince most people there was something funny going on.
