Auto Backlighting Control (ABC) refers to a feature on a camera that automatically adjusts a camera’s settings to accommodate the backlighting of a given frame.
Photographers should only turn on the auto backlighting control if they want to accentuate the quality of backlighting in their pictures.
If the backlight within the camera’s lens is dull (and the film is of normal speed), then the auto backlighting control will widen the aperture, make the flash brighter and extend the shutter timer.

Motion control - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Motion control is a sub-field of automation, in which the position and/or velocity of machines are controlled using some type of device such as a hydraulic pump, linear actuator, or an electric motor, generally a servo.
Motion control is an important part of robotics and CNC machine tools, however it is more complex than in the use of specialized machines, where the kinematics are usually simpler.
A motion controller to generate the set points (the desired output) and close the position feedback loop.

 Photography - MSN Encarta
Photography, method of picture making developed in the early 19th century, based on principles of light, optics, and chemistry.
The word photography comes from Greek words and means “drawing with light.” Photographs serve as scientific evidence, conveyers of news, historical documents, works of art, and records of family life.
Nearly all forms of photography are based on the fact that certain chemicals are photosensitive—that is, they change in some way when exposed to light.

The 7 Uses of Motion Control
Controlling a camera with such lens by hand is very complex, but by using a motion control rig, one can program in the move very quickly and then get the shot.
The motion control system moves the motion picture camera¹s position from a start position to the first position of the camera array, at which point the camera array is triggered.
Unlike the earlier mentioned uses of motion control, it is not used to achieve something that was previously impossible or difficult, rather it uses the previous uses of motion control together with timecode to achieve the effects specifically in synchronization to sound.

The first suggestions that this was possible came about when John Whitney pioneered several motion techniques using old anti-aircraft analog computers connected to servos to control the motion of lights and lit targets.
The downside to motion control is that it requires considerable programming in order to make the camera move the way you want.
The first use of motion control photography in video games was by Stormfront Studios in Eagle Eye Mysteries, produced by Scott Orr and published by Electronic Arts in 1993.

 Trade Secrets of Motion Control
Motion control is a technique and a method, not a particular device.
Sometimes motion control rigs are small, like a tabletop graphics "down-shooter", and sometimes they are huge--big enough to throw around the heaviest of cameras, full-size small boats, and large model helicopters.
Use the motion control system for the shots that really have to be perfect, or complex, or repeatable over multiple passes.

the idea behind motion control photography is that the camera can perform the same movement twice, which is very useful for compositing two shots where the camera is moving.
the motion control aspect of the video is apparent as the camera moves through the window to see fiona apple in front of a mirror, which the camera is not present in.
the shots that follow are a combination of high speed photography of the set being destroyed and footage of fiona shot with the same camera movement only without the action in the background.

But after using Motion for just a few days, you may be surprised at how much of your compositing and graphics workload you will choose to move to this excellent new contender.
Though Motion provides a typical timeline-based interface for layering and animating elements in a composite, its interface is more compelling because of the addition of behaviors.
Motion can’t always muster a full 30 frames per second, but even if playback drops to half that speed, it’s still good enough to judge the overall impact of an effect, to synchronize settings on multiple layers, or to adjust your composite to fit a voice-over.

Some painters dubbed the new invention "the foe-to-graphic art." A number of artists turned to photography for their livelihood, while others cashed in on the fact that the images were in monochrome, and began coloring them in.
Photography would eventually change the purpose of painting from one which focused on outward facts of reality to more emphasis on personal vision.
One of the greatest pioneers of motion photography was Eadweard Muybridge.

Motion still lacks a true 3-D environment—you can’t set multiple cameras or move objects within 3-D space—but when combined with basic 2-D motion, the Basic 3D filter allows you to simulate many of the 3-D operations and movements that you’d get in a true 3-D compositing program.
Motion 1 had excellent particle filters, and Motion 2 builds on these with dozens of new particle presets that give you a huge assortment of natural and stylized particle effects.
Motion isn’t an After Effects killer, but it can replace After Effects for many motion-graphics and compositing tasks, and it does so with a working environment that is tremendously superior.

Most great motion sports shots are taken wide open for faster shutter speed or within a stop or two of f2.8 to blur the background and focus specifically on the subject.
If the subject is separated from the background (such as the subject on the near side of the field) and you have a telephoto lens, you’ll have a shallow depth of field and a dramatic effect for your shot.
