 Fukushima Prefecture - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On March 20, 2006, the town of Tajima and the villages of Tateiwa, Ina and Nangou (all from Minamiaizu District) merged to form the new town of Minamiaizu.
The town of Motomiya and the village of Shirasawa (both from the Adachi District) are scheduled to merge to form the new city of Motomiya on January 1, 2007.

One of the advantages of living in a rural prefecture like Fukushima is the easy access to natural attractions like hiking trails, hot springs, and, of course, skiing.
In Fukushima, most resorts are in the Mt. Bandai-Lake Inawashiro area in the Aizu region, but there are others around the prefecture worth investigating.
Otama village, which lies between Fukushima city and Koriyama, has atotal of five courses that can be used for 1000 yen and can be reached by bus from Motomiya station.

Public prosecutors reportedly concluded that a portion of funds connected with a land deal believed to have been made between a construction firm and a company operated by Sato's brother constituted a bribe.
Prosecutors said the land deal involved the old headquarters of Koriyama Santo Suits, a clothing manufacturing firm in Motomiya, Fukushima Prefecture, in which Sato's brother Yuji Sato served as chairman.

Liz goes to Motomiya on Tuesdays so we can ride the train together in the morning and maybe in the afternoon on the way back.
They are very active and have people that actually get in line to be involved.
Fukushima to Osaka will be about $300 round trip and Osaka to Hiroshima might be another $100, and that doesn't include a place to stay.

Hearing of the weakness of Nihonmatsu, a group of samurai from Hitachi (Ibaraki prefecture), including men from the Satake, Ashina, Iwaki and Ishikawa clans, set out to take Nihonmatsu for themselves.
They clashed with the Date forces near present day Motomiya (between Koriyama and Nihonmatsu).
This was known as the battle of Hitotoribashi.

We meet every Saturday at the Motomiya Community Support Center (which promotes life long learning activities) to do lots of activities such as studying world's cultures and languages, how to use computers, what we can do to better our community....
