Motorpsycho was founded in October 1989 in Trondheim, a small industrial city on the mid-western coast of Norway.
Their first album Lobotomizer was in 1991, after which Killer quit and Hkon Gebhardt took over on drums, forming the nucleus of Motorpsycho for many years to come.
Due to its monster-length it was released as a double-CD and a three-LP box-set with a full-color poster and a vinyl etching on the sixth side.

Motorpsycho - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Motorpsycho is a band from Trondheim in Norway.
Formed in the late eighties as an alternative metal band, Motorpsycho soon developed a unique blend of grunge, heavy metal and indierock, as well as incorporating the sonic noise experiments of associated member Deathprod.
With the 2000 album "Let Them Eat Cake", Motorpsycho suddenly took huge steps away from their noisy hard rock roots, opting instead for a smoother, jazz-tinged approach to the songwriting and recording process.

Motorpsycho + Jaga Jazzist Horns: In the Fishtank: Pitchfork Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Motorpsycho is a long-running psych-rock band, extremely popular in their home country, whose work jumps from classic rock jams and pastoral acoustics to hypercatchy psychedelia.
And they come to the rescue when Motorpsycho ham their way through the Art Ensemble of Chicago's "Theme de Yoyo": while the singers go for a "you had to be there" delivery of the loopy lyrics, the horns' punchy funk salvages the song.
But the clincher here is the last track, the twenty-minute "Tristano": building on a repeated motif that crackles with energy, the ensemble plinks and clatters up a mammoth arc, climbing with the nervous deliberateness of a rollercoaster until the theme comes in at minute thirteen and the band careens through the denouement.

MOTORPSYCHO was made first and it's basically the male version of FASTER PUSSYCAT: three bad guys roaming the desert and looking for kicks.
In fact, MOTORPSYCHO is a rare breed of movie: it depicts the actual disturbing subject and even exploits it (close-up of women's bodies) but doesn't go overboard with it as it never stray away from its story.
I prefer MOTORPSYCHO over FASTER PUSSYCAT, which is also a remarkably well made actioner but it's more campy and at times too over-the-top to be taken seriously, or BTVOTD, which is just plain stupid.
