It is one of Ontario's Lost Villages, which were permanently flooded by the creation of the St.

 Legion Magazine : The Lost Villages
The former hamlets of Mille Roches and Moulinette combined to form the new town of Long Sault, eight miles west of Cornwall while the villages of Wales, Dickinson's Landing, Farran's Point and Aultsville became a new town called Ingleside, 13 miles west of Cornwall.
Ontario Hydro had revealed its "rehabilitation" program and dispatched what locals called a "hydro circus" to hold public meetings in the communities.
However, Robert Saunders, who as Chairman of Ontario Hydro since 1948 had led the parade of progress, was not there to see the opening of the massive hydro dam named for him.

Located across the channel from the small settlement that was to become Moulinette, the island was named after David Sheek, who leased the land from the Mohawks in 1806.
Before the Cornwall Canal was enlarged, villagers from Moulinette used to cross over to the island using a combination of roadways and bridges.
Among those were the Moulinette Woolen Mills, a mill and carding operation, owned by the Woods Brothers, who also lived adjacent to the mills.

The study was launched to fill in information gaps highlighted by recent reports by the International Joint Commission, Ontario's environmental commissioner, the federal commissioner of environment and sustainable development, and the Walkerton, Ont., inquiry into tainted water.
The Ontario government created new guidelines for water safety in the aftermath of the Walkteron tragedy and municipalities were told they must ensure that the guidelines are met.

Adam Dixson, the first settler to arrive in Moulinette, was both energetic and ambitious.
Moulinette's early settlers were mainly American born British military officers who moved to Canada in the 1780s following the American Revolution.
Other early businesses, such as the Moulinette Woolen Mills, a woollen and carding mill owned by John and Croydon (Corrie) Woods, were actually located on Sheek Island, located directly across from Moulinette.

Investment To Resurface Highways In Eastern Ontario CORNWALL, ON, Sept. 27 /CNW/ - The Ontario government has completed resurfacing highways 401 and 416 to improve road safety in eastern Ontario, Transportation Minister Harinder Takhar announced today.

In the time that the work was being done on the St. Lawrence River, between Cornwall and Iroquois in the 1950's, Ontario Hydro was also checking the cemeteries that area in order to preserve a record.
The book as Ontario Hydro published it was softcover, 8.5 x 11 and about an 1 inch thick, stapled of at least 191 pages.
