I've done some searches on the mountain itself, and it turns out that western publications and institutions refer it as mount Baekdu, Paekdu, Baektu, or Paektu (Korean variants of the name), not the Chinese variant - Baitou.
It is clear that mount Baekdu is much more commonly used name than mount Baekdu.
Another thing to consider: Mount Paektu (or Mount Baekdu) is the most common form.
