The Mount Bartle Frere trail leads from Josephine Falls on the eastern, coastal side of the mountain, over the summit to the Atherton Tableland on the western, inland side of the mountain.
The Mount Bartle Frere trail provides opportunities for fit, experienced and well prepared bushwalkers to access the rugged wilderness of the Bellenden Ker Range, part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
The Mount Bartle Frere trail may be closed during the wet season, between September and May. Additional closures may occur for management purposes including weed and feral animal control.

USAAF B-25C Mitchell medium bomber #41-12455, of the 90th Squadron of the 3rd Bomb Group based in Charters Towers, crashed into Mount Bartle Frere near Babinda in north Queensland at 7 p.m.
The mutilated bodies of the crew were buried in temporary graves on Mount Bartle Frere.
The reason why is because a B-25 Mitchell which is on Mount Bartle Frere, in a few months they may remove the plane from the jungle, and if this is my brother Glenwood's plane, I plan on being there with some of my family members to watch them remove the plane from Mt. Bartle Frere.

Map: No good ones found - the National Park leaflet (Josephine Falls Section) is probably all you need, although the Bartle Frere summit section leaflet has a better rough topographical map of the mountain so take this too if you can.
Maybe one day man will push a path right along Bartle Frere's southern ridge, connecting the main summit with Broken Nose, so that you can do a circuit including both peaks.
The flat rock that overhangs at this point would be a great lookout in good conditions, and in fact its for the views that most people climb Broken Nose.
