 | | Roach says in his guidebook that this still rather distant view of Elbert may be discouraging, but I didn't really feel that until going over a couple false summits on South Elbert (14134ft), which I reached at 9:38. |
 | | Although 300ft lower than Elbert's main summit, IMHO this summit had the best views because you could see the rugged terrain around La Plata, which was mostly blocked by South Elbert when looking from Elbert. |
