The third GJBX-138(82) study consists of "a discussion of indications of a uranium-nickel-copper association" on the "northwestern slopes of Mt. McKinley." The report treats 14 stream and lake sediment samples that are plotted and identified on Figure C-1.

Expedition members planned to climb McKinley, then kayak and raft three interconnecting rivers from the mountain's base to the sea at Cook Inlet, the Park Service said.

The first two climbers were flown to an Anchorage hospital early Friday morning, where Vardy was treated for severe frostbite to his face, feet and hands, and Hollinshead was treated for a shoulder injury and frostbite to his hands and feet, the Park Service said.
