Mount Sion still smarting from the 2-17 to 3-8 defeat to the same opponents in 2000 were in a very positive frame of mind and as Jim Greene said during the week "this time we can only blame ourselves if we leave it behind".
Mount Sion continued to dominate with the elements in their favour but were inclined to squander chances.
Mount Sion introduced Barry browne for John Meaney during half time and Brownes effort led to a free in the 32nd minute which was converted by Ken McGrath.

Ultimately, however, it was Mount Sion's failure to compete and general lack of 'bottle' which was most dispiriting about their display.

It is well within the remit of this particular panel of Mount Sion players to emulate what Ballygunner achieved in 2001 and bring home a Munster title\.

NOT EVEN Bravehart could have emulated the hurling heroics of the magnificent Mount Sioners as they rampaged their way to an epic two point victory over Clare’s Sixmilebridge in a compelling Munster club hurling final at rain and wind lashed Semple Stadium last Sunday.
Superb though the Mount Sion performance was from a hurling perspective, most of all this victory is down to sheer guts, determination, and a near fanatical desire to carry the day by men not wanting to even hear of the word defeat.
A defensive phalanx was mounted that hurled veritable defiance at the ’Bridge attack, and even when the Claremen levelled with just five minutes remaining and at that stage seemingly held all the aces, it was ’Sion who roared back for Ken McGrath’s brace of matchwinning points.
