Mount was elected the first woman Louisiana State Senator from District 27 in 1999, after serving six and a half years as the first woman mayor of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
She is vice chair of the Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay and a member of the Education, Legislative Audit Advisory, and Judiciary C Committees.
Mount also serves on the McNeese State University Foundation Board, the Christus St. Patrick Board of Counselors, the United Methodist Foundation, Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana Board, and the United Way Community Foundation.

Edward J. Ahearn, Tammany leader of the Fourth Assembly District, militant foe of John F. Curry, deposed leader of the Hall, and the man whose power made James J. Dooling the present leader, died yesterday at Post-Graduate Hospital after an illness of five weeks.
Ahearn was a Tammany chieftan by heredity, having succeeded his father, John F. Ahearn, to the leadership of the Fourth District, in the lower East Side, on the death of the latter in December, 1920.
James F. Ahearn, former Tammany leader of the old Nineteenth Assembly District in Manhattan and a cousin of the late John F. Ahearn, also a Tammany leader, died Sunday at his home, 54 Carroll Street, Cuty Island, the Bronx, after a short illness.

The batteries have a poor mounting system, if the velcro straps are not pulled extremly tightly the battery will slide down into your chainring and rip the bottom cap off resulting in no light.
If the batteries are in the frame mount you still get to use your water bottle holder, and since the battery is kind of pump shaped it's a perfect fit in the bike pump spot in my camelbak.
The battery is only secured to the mount by adhesive means; there is one velcro strap, but it's right in the middle and can't hold the battery securely from both ends.

The Mount Tammany Loop is actually a couple of different trails, including a stretch of the Appalachian Trail, that form a four-mile circuit with a vertical elevation of some 1,200 feet and one of the steepest climbs in Jersey.
The Mount Tammany Trail is on the far end of the parking area from the porta-can and clearly marked by a large sign and, once on the trail, easy to follow "red dot in a white rectangle" blazes on trees and rocks.
Even with the large group of kids babbling to one another and drawing the ire of some irritated ex-military guy over their radio, the view from the top is breath-taking.

Both mountains are characterized by there steep faces on which huge cliffs and scree abound.

 Ice Hiking Northwest New Jersey Skylands
Some years this changes in January and February when ice climbing routes come "into condition" on Mount Tammany and on many waterfalls in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
When the temperature falls to zero, the layers of clothes and gloves detract from natural and easy mobility, but the precision needed to place the thin metal spikes (called crampons) that adorn the climber's feet is the same whether you are 10 or 1000 feet up on an ice cliff.
Some years when the days warm up to near freezing, and the nights remain far colder, a ribbon of ice forms on Mount Tammany.

It will eventually lead you to the top of Mount Tammany (described as a separate hike here), and add about 3 miles and 1,250 feet elevation to your hike.
Note: There is another Sunfish Pond loop hike, which is about two miles longer, and will let you hike the ridge back to Mount Tammany.
However, the ridge trail is unkept, overgrown and infested with deer ticks, and the park rangers strongly discourage everybody from going there in summer.

The trail just sort of piled up this hillside from the picnic area and, via some pretty well dissolved log steps, worked it's way up the hill to join the Mt. Tammany trail on top if the plateau that separates the two parking lots.
That's Larry Wheelock (NY/NJ Trail Conference Trails Director) and Karen (maintainer of the Mt. Tammany trail with her husband Rich) standing at about 50' above the parking lot, about 200' along the new work.
On the final trip of 2002 (and probably our final Mt. Tammany Trail trip) we spend the day building some rock steps to get over this large tree.

Above - Mount Minsi as seen from one of the overlooks, this is about 3/4 of the way up Tammany.
This was the most challenging and rewarding hike we've been on, there's another trail we want to do there so we might try to make it back in the fall.

A pedestal-style watchman's shanty stood at the intersection with Pocono Boulevard until a 77-foot plate girder bridge was built in 1936.

Although the trails there are often crowded on the weekends, the climb up Mount Tammany is a great hike with plenty of views from the top.
I've hiked up Mt. Tammany a couple times already from the AT parking lot, you can actually hear the wolfs from up on the ridge (blue trail) that heads towards Sunfish Pond.
If you were not a hiker or animal/wolf lover, well, then it's probably not a destination but I would really recommend it for the kids or any animal lover who may not get the chance to see wolves out in the true wilderness.

For example, the Shawangunk Formation is dipping more steeply on the north side of the Delaware Water Gap (Mt. Tammany at around 50) than on the south side (Mt. Minsi at around 25).
Perhaps the most popular hike in the park is the moderately strenuous hike to the top of Mount Tammany along the Appalachian Trail.
The trailhead is located in the 1-80 rest area (west-bound side), but can be easily reached from a road connecting to the visitor center located on the east-bound side.
