The Battle of Mount Tumbledown was an engagement of the Falklands War, one of a series of battles that took place during the British advance towards Stanley.
In the battle, the British launched an assault on Tumbledown Mountain, one of the heights that dominate the town of Stanley, and succeeded in driving the Argentine forces from the mountain.
The British plan called for a diversionary attack to be made south of Mount Tumbledown by a small number of Scots Guards assisted by the four light tanks of the Blues and Royals, whilst the main attack came as a three-phase silent advance from the west of Mount Tumbledown.

The Battle of Mount Longdon was an engagement of the Falklands War between British and Argentinian forces, which took place on the 11th/12 June 1982, resulting in a British victory.
The actual number of Argentine killed on Mount Longdon during this period was two - a Marine Conscript (Jorge Inchauspe) and one Engineer Conscript (Jose Curima) being killed by Harrier attacks on 10 and 11 June.
A further four Paras and one REME were killed and seven Paratroopers were wounded in the two-day shelling directed from the Argentinian 5th Marines positions on Tumbledown Mountain that followed.

The Gurkhas had to wait until Tumbledown was taken, and the problems the Scots Guards ran into meant that the Gurkhas battle began late.
The next phase was for A Company and all the support weapons to form a firebase on the summit of Tumbledown to support D Company's attack on Mount William, a mile away.
The Argentines on Mount William were already feeling insecure after the fall of Tumbledown and Wireless Ridge.

Mount Pisgah is really not much of a mountain, but rather a hill on one of the many low ridges in central Maine.
The highest point on this ridge is Mount Washington, flanked by Carter to the north and the rest of the Presidentials to the south.

G Company reached the limit of their objective having taken a third of Tumbledown without being detected by the enemy, an incredible piece of good fortune that the Scots Guards were quick to consolidate.
Already feeling insecure about the losses of Tumbledown and Wireless Ridge, the sight of D Company, advancing towards Mt William screaming and yelling was to much for the Argentines on the mountain and they fled, understandably but much to the disappointment of the Gurkhas.

Wilson's first idea was for the Brigade to attack on the 12th June, with 2 Para attacking Wireless Ridge and the Ghurkhas undertaking active patrols on Mount Tumbledown and Mount William on the same night as 3 Commando attacked.
This made Lt-Col. Scott unhappy with a southern attack on Tumbledown and in a planning meeting with his company commanders, supporting battery commander, adjutant and ops and intelligence officers, they came to the conclusion that southern attack, in daylight across the harsh ground of Tumbledown's southern slope, would be suicidal.
Tumbledown was a very tough nut to crack and a remarkable achievement for a battalion that two and a half months before had been on ceremonial duties in London.

Popular as it is, Tumbledown Mountain offers no road signs, no parking lots, no easily found flags directing hikers to its peak and unusual alpine pond.
Adam Zukowski and Tia Sidelinger, who hiked Tumbledown a week ago, said the trail was in good shape, rocky as it was, and there was no sign of abuse.
Were it not for the sound of joking students and the guiding hand provided by the falling brook, the two hikers may not have found their way back to the trail head, which, as it turns out, was also difficult to find.

The 797 acres are part of an overall land preservation effort to protect about 33,000 acres in the Mount Blue State Park/Tumbledown Mountain region in Township 6 North of Weld.
Earlier this year, the state increased the size of the park by acquiring 2,468 acres known as the Hedgehog Hill parcel the part that includes the 1,298-foot peak of Hedgehog Hill and about half of the park's multi-use trail system.
