Electricity became available in Mountain Park in the late 1930s, but Indian Springs was the only water source for many residents until the 1960s when Cobb County started to supply water within the city.
Mountain Park became the first municipality in Georgia to elect a woman mayor, Joyce Ayers, in 1976.
Other unique Mountain Park features include the open-air summer Sunday School which was built in 1958, and the now-gone sand bottom pool that was replace with a conventional pool in 1977.

I was somewhat illogically proud when Mountain Park was mentioned as a town in the path of a tornado last summer...we were on the map!
Across from the library is one of the many charming older houses in Mountain Park (the owner doesn't know that I painted a watercolor of this house and it hangs over my bed).
Homes in the Mountain Park area include everything from 1910 bungalows to 1960's brick ranches, to two story traditionals, ranging from the $160s to the $400's.
