In Canada, this time zone includes all of Manitoba, nearly all of Saskatchewan, a slice of western Ontario, and most of Kivalliq Region, of Nunavut.
In the United States, the time zone includes the entire area of the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin; and portions of Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas.
Daylight Saving Time is in effect in much of the time zone between early April and late October.

The Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST) is a geographic region that keeps time by subtracting seven hours from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), resulting in UTC-7.
Also, the greater part of Malheur County, Oregon and the Nevada town of West Wendover is on Mountain Time.
Arizona does not observe Daylight Saving Time, a period of time between April and October in which the rest of the Mountain Time Zone keeps time by subtracting six hours from UTC (UTC-6.) However, the Navajo Nation, the bulk of whose area is within Arizona, observes Daylight Saving Time throughout its territory.
