Mountsorrel is a small village in the county of Leicestershire, in the United Kingdom.
We are situated on the old A6 route, seven miles north of Leicester and four miles to the south-east of Loughborough.
Mountsorrel is home of a huge granite quarry, which was used for the "hard sets" which paved the streets of London.

Whilst the origin of the name 'Mountsorrel' is still not understood fully, it is thought that the English nobility of the time named Mountsorrel after Mountsoreau, a village in France close to Fonevrault, where Henry II was buried.
The name Mountsorrel is thought to have developed due to the close likeness of Mountsoreau and Mountsorrel - both settlements sit on rivers, the Loire and the Soar respectively, and are overshadowed by surrounding hills.
Mountsorrel castle was used as a bastion against King Stephen, and was subsquently destroyed in 1217 by the King's men from Nottingham, branded a a nest of the Devil and den of thieves and robbers

There are several small crags above the village of Mountsorrel on Castle Hill overlooking the Soar Valley.
There is also an enormous quarry to the west of Mountsorrel (called Mountsorrel Quarry, Castle Hill Quarry or Main Quarry, opened 1852) which is currently being filled in.

Mountsorrel Juniors Football Club was founded by Barry Harrison in July 1994 with the aid of the Mountsorrel Sports and Leisure Association.
The long-term aim is to be able to buy our own ground, with floodlights, so that we will be able to enter the boys - and girls - in the floodlight leagues at Under 18, and even take them on into adult football.
The club is currently making great strides to offer as many children as possible opportunity to play football within our club, furthermore we have received tremendous support from the local parish who are impressed by our never-ending enthusiasm and determination to firmly put Mountsorrel football on the map.

Mountsorrel Castle is an 11th century earthwork motte and bailey fortress, founded by Hugh Lupus, earl of Chester.
The northern part of a granite outcrop, has been scarped into a circular motte, with the remaining platform becoming the now mutilated bailey.

Another addition to the name was created when the club managed to get sponsorship form Living Well Health Club and Gym’s and the club became Charnwood Living Well and rose to their current position in the Midlands Premier League.
New links have been made with Mountsorrel Bedouins Mixed Hockey Club and a joint venture by the two senior sides has seen the development of Mountsorrel Juniors Hockey Club.
The club are looking to further develop by establishing a second ladies team for the 2006/2007 season.
