Mourning Beloveth recorded their debut album Dust in the famous Academy studios with Mags at the helm.

Half way through the tour, the band were forced to turn back as an injury to one of the guitarists made it impossible to continue.
The addition of the keyboard player allows the band to orchestrate the material better in the live environment, where the use of an extra instrument has become necessary to emulate the complexity of the studio recordings.
This was demonstrated successfully during the tour of Europe in April 2004, where the band played in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Belgium and the Netherlands, with bands such as While Heaven Wept, Indesinence, Officium Triste, Mourning Beloveth, Thee Plague Of Gentlemen, Pantheist, and many others.

For every fan that praises these bands “bow to NO trends!!!” type of standpoint, there is I am sure also one that sees this is as nothing but a sad attempt to rekindle their past magic and appease the die-hards who have been there since the beginning.
Anyway, with many of the early 1990’s bands changing their sounds, breaking up, or simply losing their appeal, this leaves a bit of a void in the scene.
One thing that sets the band apart from their brothers in doom is their since of melody which is very striking to my ears.

Mourning Beloveth of Ireland is best described as a great mix of the early 90's doom/death metal style.
The band mostly reminds me of early Anathema, and as the bands name suggests the music is slow, and mournful.
Although the band is doom they really don't have the sad feeling to their music that bands like 'My Dying Bride' always have.

CoC : Mourning Beloveth - The Sullen Sulcus : Review
Irish doomsters Mourning Beloveth are back with the follow-up to their commendable debut _Dust_, this time with a record label behind them.
Despite their band name and having plenty in common with My Dying Bride sound-wise, Mourning Beloveth's brand of doom metal is not particularly romantic and certainly not orchestrally enhanced on _The Sullen Sulcus_ -- a case where the album title tells more about the music than the band name.
Either way, Mourning Beloveth are one of those doom bands that simply do not allow the listener to even raise his eyes from the ground for the duration of the disc, and that sort of consistency tends to score highly with doom connoisseurs.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, since it has prevented a glut of mediocrity in this genre), there are few bands that play this style of music, so there are few reference points in trying to compare a new band.
Mourning Beloveth keep things basic with a formula of massive gray granite slabs of power chord riffs and regal, symphonic leads that lull you into the paradoxically miserable-yet-joyful stupor that the best doom metal strives for.

What the famous My Dying Bride began once at the beginning of the 90s so stylish and rich, what was continued by bands like the US-Doomsters Morgion then, exactly this lightless sound cosmos this proud quintet by the green island pass through therefore again in all pain filled eminence.
I don't think there is any message in doom metal because as a rule for most doom bands it is a cathartic process in which they are releasing the negative feelings that build up inside and each person takes from that what they want or need to.
It is always a good feeling when you discover a new band, wait for their tape or CD in the post and when it comes it makes you proud that you have found this band.”
