Movitz: A Common Lisp OS development platform
The Movitz system aspires to be an implementation of ANSI Common Lisp that targets the ubiquitous x86 PC architecture "on the metal".
Movitz is a development platform for operating system kernels, embedded, and single-purpose applications.
This cross-compiler is written in plain Common Lisp, and is currently being developed under Allegro CL, GNU Emacs, and FreeBSD, although (with minor exceptions) nothing in particular binds it to this platform.

Bankruptcy ruling favors Symington   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-13)
Lou Movitz, the trustee appointed by the court to represent the interests of Symington's creditors, had filed claims that Symington's debts should not be wiped out because he gave false information to creditors.
She also gave Movitz all the books, furniture and jewelry that her husband gave her in 1993 - believed to be worth about $100,000 - after she paid some of his legal bills.
Manning, on behalf of Movitz, has been investigating whether payments from a Symington-led partnership in 1994 to his mother, Martha, and to former business partner Randy Todd were really gifts.

Movitz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Movitz is an implementation of the Common Lisp programming language for x86 computers.
Movitz does not currently implement the entire ANSI Common Lisp Standard but is stable and quite usable, though very poor as a development environment since all it provides is a simple REPL, with no facility for editing and saving files.
An editor called LiCE, which closely follows the conventions of GNU EMACS, may be run on top of Movitz.

This was prompted by the fact that Qemu appears to do some weird auto-detection of the floppy geometry based on the floppy image's size.
However, it should also mean that movitz can now be booted from a "real" 5 1/4' floppy should you ever find one, and more importantly, probably also 2.88-MB floppies as supported by bochs and qemu, and I think also some actual hardware drives.
Create-image creates a symbolic Movitz lisp-world from scratch.

Hello, First of all, I think movitz is very cool.
I am now considering implementing the process abstraction (namely, fork(), wait(), some variant of exec(), and context switching) in movitz, as an OS project, along the lines of the attached proposal.
Unlike traditional operating systems which are written in the statically typed C or C++ programming languages ("portable assembly"), movitz is written in the high level, dynamically typed, Common Lisp[2] programming language.

Lou Movitz, who represents the interests of all of the governor's creditors in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, said any of those actions is sufficient to deny Symington 's request to have more than $25 million worth of debts legally forgiven.
Movitz yesterday filed fraud allegations against Symington in Bankruptcy Court.
The legal move, if successful, would preserve the right of creditors to collect from Symington whenever he gets money in the future, whether from salaries, payments from his own trust fund of nearly $800,000, investment returns or even bequests from the will of his mother, Martha, when she dies.

In a poignant one-man exhibition, artist Edward Movitz had a chance to show off a thorough sampling of the work he’s been creating for the past several decades.
In a May 26th gallery talk at Kingdom Fine Arts on Massachusetts Avenue, Movitz vocalized thoughts on his work, his growth as an artist, and his intrigue with certain elements of our culture.
Although the exhibit was titled "Portals", the subject matter of the show encompassed a much wider spectrum of the artist’s interests in iconic imagery from everyday life.

A professional who received payments from the debtor during the preference period may be able to avoid running afoul of the disinterestedness requirement by returning the potentially preferential payments.
Baker suggests a finding of disinterestedness is not possible in the Ninth Circuit absent full and timely disclosure and a prompt determination regarding facially plausible preference claims.
The opinions expressed at or through the blog are the opinions of the individual author and may not reflect the opinions of the firm or any individual attorney.
