Moyne Shire could be billed as the "music capital of Australia" under a proposal by a small group of local musicians.
Aside from proclaiming the municipality a national music mecca, Hoey and Howard suggested the council build a permanent stage at Fiddler's green in Port Fairy and run summer music events at the Green to enhance the town's tourism trade.
Di Clanchey said the idea of naming the shire as the music capital was a great way to promote the area's music festivals including the Folkie, Mortlake Buskers Festival, Koroit Irish Festival, Mortlake Muster, Port Fairy Spring Music Festival and Rhapsody in June.

Road works in the Moyne Shire will be one of the major areas of spending in the budget for the coming financial year.
The Mayor, Gerald Madden, says the council cannot afford to ignore the large amount of rural traffic in the shire.
"With 3,000 kilometres of roads in the shire it is obviously one of our biggest factors for expenditure - $10.8 million is a lot of money to be expended on roads and that involves rehabilitation as well as re-sheeting and upgrading unsealed road," he said.
