Mpumalanga, (name changed from Eastern Transvaal on 24 August 1995), is a province in South Africa.
Mpumalanga lies in the east of South Africa, north of KwaZulu-Natal and bordering Swaziland and Mozambique.
The Mpumalanga Province's legislation is an amalgam of national and regional legislation promulgated prior to the establishment of the Province on 27 April 1994, and legislation which it has itself promulgated since it came into existance.

Mpumalanga Province is one of the nine provinces of the Republic of South Africa, established in terms of the Interim Constitution of 1993.
The Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature established a multi-party ad-hoc committee in June 1995 to solicit public opinion on the change of the name of the province, Eastern Transvaal, which was associated with the former apartheid province, Transvaal and a history of colonial conquest.
The area is locked between the Drakensburg escarpment in the west, the N4 in the East, the Mpumalanga-Northern Province boundary in the north and the South African-Mozambique border in the east.
