		Saturday Night Live (SNL) is a weekly late-night ninety-minute live comedy-variety show which has been broadcasted every Saturday night on the American NBC network since 1975.
		Begins with the debut of the show in the 1975/1976 television season and ends with the departure of Lorne Michaels and the remaining members of the original cast at the end of the 1979/1980 season.
		Several special episodes of Saturday Night Live have been compiled and aired that were "best of" episodes of several of these hosts, including Christopher Walken and Tom Hanks.

		He was given studio 8H, which was built in the 1930s for performances by Arturo Toscanini and the NBC Symphony Orchestra.
		When the first show aired on October 11, 1975, with George Carlin as its host, it was called NBC's Saturday Night, because ABC featured a program at the same time titled "Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell." When the ABC program went off the air, the NBC program changed its name to Saturday Night Live.

		SATURDAY NIGHT, it's surprising how entertaining it often manages to be.
		The film has a feel for period details and does, to its credit, explore one facet of Young's life in depth: his relationship with his long-suffering brother, who never developed the drive and aggressiveness that propelled Buddy to the top--well, the middle at least.
		Annie, the only woman in the film with a personality, is somewhat more believable (Helen Hunt does the most she can with the part), but we're a bit surprised she'd spend so much time helping this belligerent old man, especially after their first hostile meeting.

		Saturday Night tells the Buddy Young story, from early days telling jokes at family gatherings with his brother, to his later day lounge club circuit and retirement-home appearances.
		Saturday Night, despite meandering about its story, manages to be reasonably engaging, and the frequent hops back in time to Buddy's early career serve to not only help illumine Buddy's character, but also to give the whole film a sad, nostalgic feel, quite appropriate to the theme of Buddy's failed career and flailing comeback attempt.
		Saturday Night (and made his directorial debut), and it's rare to hear the viewpoint of the director, star, producer, and screenwriter all rolled into one.
