		UGANDA People’s Congress (UPC) presidential candidate Miria Kalule Obote launched her campaign in the Buganda region on Thursday, with a rally at Kasambya, Mubende district.
		The Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA), under the UPC government of 1980-85, fought the National Resistance Army (NRA) in Mubende, a part of the Luweero Triangle.
		Miria criticised the symbols for the other parties as she explained the meaning of her party’s open-palm symbol.

		Exploration at Mubende is focusing on a style of gold deposit known as intrusive related gold systems.
		The Mubende project is surrounded by abundant gold and tungsten occurrences and small-scale gold alluvial workings.
		These areas are scheduled for more detailed investigation as part of the Mubende exploration program, expected to last a number of months before plans to drill the most promising targets will be implemented.

		With in thirty minutes, the taxi was full board with the required fourteen passengers hence we arrived at Mubende town at 11:00 am after one and half hours of silent traveling.

		In 2003 I visited Mityana and Mubende and the pastor of the Mubende church (Pastor Magango) is arranging both these conferences.
		The first conference is at Mubende Pentecostal Church and the second is in the pastor’s home village, Kyaddembe, which is a very rural setting.
		At Kyaddembe we will be staying at the pastor’s house and they will be doing the cooking for us there (this is likely to be better food than at the hotel!).

		WHEN information went through Mankose parish, Kasanda in Mubende district that a new variety of maize, with a shorter maturity period had been introduced, Kibaawo Susaana was among those who rushed in for the variety.
		Many farmers in Mubende have taken to growing the SC407 variety alongside the Longe 7H variety from which they hope to raise money and wipe poverty out of their households.
		Makokoto Nabondo, a farmer in Bukuya parish, has planted 17 acres of the SC407 variety and, like many of his colleagues, hopes to amass huge income out of it.

	Adolescents and Reproductive Health Care -- Results
		While the programme's overall impact is difficult to measure, preliminary results from a survey in two districts highlight some interesting results.
		In Mubende district, where PEARL has been in operation since 1995, knowledge and use of contraception is more widespread than in Kibale, where the programme started two years later in 1997.
		This is attributed to the much higher use of condoms in Mubende: 67 per cent of Mubende girls reported using a condom, while only 11 per cent of Kibale girls did.

	USAID Telling Our Story: Zambia - Better Education Brings Better Health
		Under the shade of a tin roof, the small concrete room of the rural health center is cool against the mid-morning heat in Mubende, a village in northern Zambia's Mwense District.
		After seeing the health workers in action and the community benefits that resulted, more Mubende residents began to contribute what they could to the effort, such as making bricks for new health posts in the community.

	Keynote address - Small ruminants: Goats and sheep in uganda
		This breed is concentrated in the Mubende District.
		Some research on imported Toggenburg exotic milk goat and its crosses with Mubende goats was done in the 1960s and 1970s at the Livestock Experimental Station, Entebbe.
		Both the pure Toggenburg and the crosses of Toggenburg x Mubende goats showed promising results in terms of milk yield: up to 4 kg per goat per day for the pure Toggenburg and 2 kg for the crossbred goats.

		KAMPALA, July 13 (AFP) - Fourteen people died and 26 were injured when a lorry rolled over on the road linking the Ugandan capital Kampala with the central town of Mubende, police said Sunday.
		"The speeding lorry was overloaded with about 45 people, jerricans of a local gin and other merchandise when its left front tyre burst and the truck overturned on Saturday evening," Mubende district police commander Pontious Barisigara told AFP.
		The injured were taken to a hospital in Mityana town, Barisigara said.

	NBPC: Africa: Open for Business
		When I was a teacher in Uganda in the early 1970s, I would travel the 200-mile distance from Kampala, the capital, to Fort Portal near the Congolese border by bus, and then take a taxi for another 10 miles or so to the school.
		The most direct route from Kampala to Fort Portal was via the town of Mubende, so I would take the Mubende bus early in the morning and hope to arrive in Fort Portal about six hours later.
		Invariably, however, the overcrowded bus would break down and we would idle — men, women, children, live fowl, a goat or two, and produce — for hours beside the potholed, dusty red road until another bus came along, or the driver or a mechanic from the nearest village got the bus going again.

	UNICEF - UNICEF People - 15 December 2004: Ugandan youth describe experiences living in nation divided
		Stephen and Edward are both in school, and participate in youth programs to promote education and health among young people in Kampala and Mubende.
		The LRA uses violence, abduction and rape to subjugate the children of the villages in the region, and force them into their ranks as soldiers.
		Both young men are students, but both have found the time to travel to the northern region, through volunteer work they do with youth advocacy groups in Uganda.
