The population of the township in 1810 was 395; in 1820, 808; in 1830, 1,317; in 1840, 1,998; in 1850, after re-subdivision, 1,142; in 1860, 1,004; in 1870, 972; in 1880, 1,001, including Portersville, and in 1890, 785, exclusive of Portersville, which then was credited with 190 inhabitants.

This township lies in range 7 north, 3 west, and is bounded on the north by Warren county, on the east by Walnut Grove township, with Emmet on the south and Blandinsville on the west.
The township was not settled until 1855 or 1856, to speak of, although a few settlers came as early as 1834.
Sciota township, according to the annual report of the county superintendent, for the school year, ending June 30, 1884, has 452 children of school age, 420 of whom are enrolled in the schools.

Township manager John Granger said that Solebury decided it was time to ask the federal court to intervene on its behalf.
The township's action stems from the fact that the PaDEP renewed the quarry's pumping permit in October 2002, despite at least four years of complaints from the township about well problems apparently caused by the excessive amounts of water that the quarry was discharging from its mining pits.
Township officials were concerned when they learned that the order did not set either a time frame for the PaDEP's study or any restrictions on the quarry pumping during its course.

Muddy Run is a small tributary to the Juniata River and the sub-watershed encompasses approximately 1500 acres with the majority of the watershed in suburban development.
The creek flows through several heavily populated Pittsburgh suburbs and the group wishes to preserve the “greenway status” of much of the length of the stream before its empties into the Ohio River, only one mile from Pittsburgh’s Golden Triangle.
The Sewickley Creek Watershed Association has requested a multi-year grant for the restoration for Jack's Run, which flows through the heart of Lynch Field, Greensburg, PA. Five Thousand Dollars of this grant was provided the McKenna Foundation.

Division of the Township had been attempted as early as 1842 and again in 1845, but these attempts proved unsuccessful because of too much opposition to the proposals by residents who opposed division.
The Muddy Creek rose to the south and flowed into the Conestoga and on to the Susquehanna, and the Wyomissing Creek rose to the north and flowed to the Schuylkill.

Built about 40 years ago along the Brush Creek flood plain, the houses were situated on concrete slabs, instead of foundations, to avoid basement water problems.
Bach said he's hoping the creek bed can be deepened and perhaps lined with concrete to stop the erosion.

This is the Jacob Bicher b.1818 buried in Muddy Creek Cemetery.
We would expect them to be in Muddy Creek Church but the transcripts of records printed in books we've seen are missing the years we would need.

Pennsylvania Environmental Council — $28,844 for the Ridley Creek Riparian Buffer Project.
The project involves Hammer Creek, a tributary of Cocalico Creek, and will install agricultural and riparian best-management practices within the watershed to abate nonpoint source pollution and improve water quality in Ephrata and Warwick townships.

While about 40 percent of the residual waste in Pennsylvania is generated by coal-burning plants and waste incinerators, other residual wastes include contaminated soil, rubber, pesticides, PCBs and paints, according to the agency.
The largest portion of that site, which was used in the past for limestone and coal mining, is in Muddy Creek Township, Butler County, while a small portion is in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
