		Mudejares ist die Bezeichnung für Muslime, die im Verlauf der Reconquista unter die Herrschaft der christlichen Königreiche in Spanien geraten waren, doch ihre Religion weiter ausüben konnten, sich aber bald an ihre christliche Umgebung anpassten.
		Mit der Unterwerfung von Saragossa (1118), Córdoba (1236), Valencia (1238) und Sevilla (1248) stieg die Anzahl der Mudejares.
		Trotz der Zusicherung der Beibehaltung der Religion kam es mit jeder Eroberung zu einer Auswanderungswelle von Muslimen, vor allem solcher, die der politischen, wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Oberschicht angehörten.
