	The Mukilteo Lighthouse, Mukilteo,Washington
		Overlooking the sound near the ferry landing in historic Mukilteo, the lighthouse is still active with its original Fresnel lens.
		Mukilteo Light abreast the town of Mukilteo, has been in existence since 1906, marking the waterway at Point Elliot on the east side of Possession Sound along the searoad to Everett.
		One of the longer tours of duty at Mukilteo was put in by Coast Guardsmen Vivian R. Corrie, who tended the light from 1946-1960.

		Though Mukilteo was officially incorporated on May 8, 1947, the city has a historic role in the development of the Puget Sound.
		It was at Mukilteo that the Point Elliott Treaty was signed between Governor Isaac Stevens and the chiefs of 22 Puget Sound tribes on January 22, 1855.
		According to the Mukilteo Historical Society, the town became the first settled by Europeans in 1858 and was the county seat of Snohomish County from 1861 to 1867, when the city of Snohomish became the county seat.

		Mukilteo's lens and fog signal were automated in 1979, and in 1981, a remote fog sensor was installed.
		Ownership of the tower and dwellings was turned over to the city of Mukilteo by the Coast Guard in 2001, and the state has given the park to the city as well.

		Centuries ago, Indian tribes often gathered at the place we now call Mukilteo, a Native American word meaning "good spot for camping." Early in this century, the Lighthouse Service decided that Mukilteo was also a good location for a navigational light to guide vessels headed for Everett.
		Completed in 1906, the Victorian-style structure was fitted with a fourth-order Fresnels lens and equipped with a Daboll trumpet to warn ships plowing blindly through fog or heavy weather.
		Residents of Mukilteo and other nearby communities protested, however, and the old Fresnel remains in operation to this day, flashing white every five seconds.
