Multicart - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nintendo themselves even released multicarts, often bundled with their NES systems or peripherals.
In the world of pirate Famicom games, multicarts often advertise an inflated number of games on their labels, but in reality actually only have about five or six truly unique games.
Multicarts, both legal and otherwise, have appeared for many cartridge-based systems, among them the Atari 2600, Intellivision, Odyssey 2, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, and Super NES.

In the world of pirate Famicom games, multicarts often advertise an inflated number of games on their labels, but in realityactually only have about five or six truly unique games.
The games are usually first-generation Famicom titles, several of which were never officially released in America, and in typical pirate fashion have either had their namesdeliberately misspelled, or their copyright notices/logos removed, or both.

Bally Alley - The Newsletter for Astrocade Users
The most ambitious multicarts will make some attempt to include every game that was ever made and released for a given system.
Multicarts made for the Atari 2600 game system usually only include 128 or 256 total games, leaving out literally hundreds of other games that were released.
One thing common to both multicarts is that there will have to be a printed chart included with each cart, to tell a person what programs are stored on that cart and what the DIP switch settings are to activate each of them.

Multicart -- Facts, Info, and Encyclopedia article   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
Although generally associated with pirated (additional info and facts about Famicom) Famicom cartridges and systems that often advertise "76-in-1," "200-in-1," "1200-in-1," and even "9999999-in-1" games, there have been legal multicarts as well over the years.
By far and away the most common of these is a two-in-one cartridge featuring (additional info and facts about Super Mario Bros.) Super Mario Bros. and (additional info and facts about Duck Hunt) Duck Hunt, which was the pack-in cartridge for most of the system's heyday.
Another common one adds World Class Track Meet to those two games; this was boxed with NES systems that included the (additional info and facts about Power Pad) Power Pad accessory.

Technically, developing demos with the intent of getting them on a GBA multicart is GBA development using NES-like bytecode, not NES development.
Likewise, e-reader games are GBA games written using either 6502 bytecode or Z80 bytecode because Thumb bytecode is a bit big to fit on those size-constrained barcode cards.
