 | | The AJHSME covers subject matter normally associated with the seventh and eighth grade mathematics curriculum and may be taken by all students in grades 8 and below. The multiple-choice exam will take place November 17, 1998; high-scoring students will be invited to participate in the American High School Mathematics Exam. |
 | | Each February, 350,000 students nationwide participate in the AHSME, the first in a series of examinations that culminates in the International Mathematical Olympiad. The AHSME is a 30-question, multiple-choice, calculators-allowed exam, to be completed in 90 minutes. |
