History of the Muncie Flyers Football team
Muncie, Indiana, nicknamed the Magic City, has had semi-pro and professional football dating back to as early as 1905 when the community of Congerville formed a team.
Muncie is located about 85 miles south of Fort Wayne and 65 miles northeast of Indianapolis in the east central section of Indiana.
The 1920 Muncie Flyers were one of the original 14 teams in the APFA (American Professional Football Association).

The Muncie, Indiana, Flyers, were actually the Congerville Flyers, a semi-pro team that did well against local opponents.
Congerville at that time was a small town outside Muncie; it has since been absorbed by the city.
In 1916, it was merged into another team, the Flyers, to represent Muncie for the mythical Indiana state football championship.

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Lewis University men's volleyball team shocked conference-leading Ball State on the Cardinals' home floor to send a message to the league that there is a lot of time left in the regular season and the Flyers are far from dead in the water.
Soler led the Flyers with 13 kills, while senior Fabiano Barreto produced 11 kills, four blocks and a.400 hitting percentage.
Instead, the Flyers draw into a three-way tie with Ohio State and Loyola for third place, while IPFW (8-1) assumes a one-game lead over Ball State.

Secondly, it would allow the Muncie site to be used to host a significant, international class FF event (Open International, or Continental Championships?) every other year (in the year opposite the World Championships), thereby giving those who have an interest in the International aspect of competition an opportunity to compete in an international event.
When discussions began among the AMA contestants, several commented that Muncie would not be a viable site for the inevitable flyoff rounds of a international competition, and that repeated retrievals into adjoining farmer's crops may endanger future access and use of the field by free flighters.
For model flyers in other countries the cost of these same models is very high in terms of the average income, these model flyers should be building models.

The idea was to pick 8 to 10 contests over a 2 year cycle that were spread out over the country and were in most cases contests that about 90% of the finals participants flew in anyway.
Then there were contests selected in areas like Texas, Muncie, Florida, and others that would have built participation at those events and made them worth the travel.
