Jesus Segovia is one of several residents in a northwest section of Highland where the property deeds say the homes are in Highland, but mailing addresses list San Bernardino and the 92410 ZIP code.
Segovia, a 13-year resident of the Highland neighborhood, was notified by the U.S. Postal Service that his ZIP code would not be adjusted.
Segovia has gathered support from local and national politicians, including San Bernardino Mayor Judith Valles, Highland Councilman John Timmer and Rep. Joe Baca, D-Rialto, who all wrote letters to the U.S. Postal Service in support of the ZIP code adjustment.

Information collected by the Colombia Campaign to Ban Landmines (CCCM) indicates that at least 135 of Colombia’s 1,050 municipalities in twenty-three of the country’s thirty departments are mine-affected in all five regions of Colombia (Caribbean, Andean, Amazonian, Orinoquia, and Pacific regions).
The 135 municipalities cover a total area of 145,000 square kilometers or 13% of the national territory.
A few days prior, and in the same municipality, a twenty-four-year-old peasant from Campo Llano was killed by a mine.

Previous Landmine Monitor research showed that in 1999, at least 125 municipalities in twenty-one departments were mine-affected, and in 2000, at least 135 municipalities in twenty-six departments were mine-affected.
In the period between May 2000 and May 2001 municipalities that were previously not believed to be mine-affected have reported new mine victims, bringing the total in 2001 to 168 municipalities in twenty-seven departments that are mine-affected.
