Muntinlupa’s bid to formally establish relation with the international community began in 1992 with the passage of a Muntinlupa Council resolution expressing its desire to forge a sister city agreement with Gunma-machi, Japan.
The Muntinlupa-Gunma sisterhood pact commenced on March 1, 1994, in a formal signing ceremony at the People’s Center of Muntinlupa in the presence of former MMDA chairman and Quezon City Mayor Ishmael Mathay Jr.
The establishment of mutual relations between Gunma and Muntinlupa started when long-time Philippine resident Kiyoshi Osawa, a businessman-philanthropist and a native of Gunma-machi initiated the move to open the door for a tie-up between the two towns.

A GROUP of legitimate suppliers and contractors is asking the Office of the Ombudsman, Commission on Audit and Civil Service Commission to investigate Muntinlupa city hall employees using dummy companies to acquire supply and infrastructure contracts from different city departments.
They allege that these employees, some of whom are relatives of high-ranking city officials, use their position to get hefty purchase orders for office equipment, consumables and infrastructure contracts in “blatant” violation of laws governing government employees.
They urge the Muntinlupa City government to act immediately to erase the impression that these employee-suppliers are being protected to conduct their businesses.

Alcaraz said PLM was the first university in the country to have conducted drug testing on the entire student population--more than 2,600 in all.
Barangay officials in Muntinlupa City also agreed to shoulder the rehabilitation expenses of drug dependents in their areas.

The DOJ extolled today the Japanese government during the turnover ceremonies of the newly-constructed vocational training center for juveniles serving sentence at the national penitentiary in Muntinlupa.
The construction of the Muntinlupa Juvenile Training Center started on April 2003 and was completed last August 29, 2003.

MDC, composed of residents from Muntinlupa’s different barangays and various communities, was established in Oct. 1997 under the directive of Presidential Spokesperson and Press Secretary Ignacio R. Bunye who was then the city mayor.
MDC has performed Philippine folk dances to international dances before visiting heads of states, members of the diplomatic circle, local and foreign tourists.

(STAR) Some 5,000 truckers from all over Metro Manila threatened yesterday to barricade major thoroughfares in Muntinlupa City in protest against a city ordinance banning their vehicles from using the Alabang interchange.
Isaac Esteleta of the Confederation of Trucker’s Associations (CTAP) said the ordinance has left the trucks with no alternate roads to use after the Philippine National Construction Co.
He said many of the trucks using the Muntinlupa roads transport raw materials for export companies such as electronics, garments, and paper products and deliver them to the North and South Harbors in Manila for shipping.
