Osman Murat Ülke was born on 15 October 1970 in Runderoth, Germany, as the oldest son of Turkish migrant workers.
As Osman Murat Ülke continues to refuse to wear military uniform, which is a disciplinary offence under the military prison regime, he was punished initially with a one-month ban on receiving letters.
