They Do It with Mirrors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
They Do It With Mirrors (published in 1952) is a detective fiction novel by Agatha Christie, featuring her detective Miss Marple.
When Jane Marple goes to stay with her old, and rather frail, friend Carrie-Louise at her sprawling Victorian Gothic mansion, which is not only a family home but also a rehabilitation centre for delinquent boys, she soon begins to realise that all is not well there.
Adapted as Murder with Mirrors in 1985 for television, and again in 1992 for BBC, starring Joan Hickson.

When one's mind conjures up memories of the classic "Murder on the Orient Express", or "Death on the Nile", as great film adaptations of her novels, "Murder with Mirrors", can be seen as possibly one of the more minor made-for-television film efforts to come from one of her works.
Despite "Murder With Mirrors", being considered a minor work by the queen of murder mystery writing, the main objections raised against the film is the up dating of the story to a 1980's setting and the strange mixture of nationalities in the main cast all playing British.
"Murder With Mirrors", while definately lacking in the usual Agatha Christie atmosphere is however still very rich in high production values with the on location shooting at Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire giving the film an unexpectedly rich and opulent look unusual in television movies such as this.

In 1985, Helen Hayes played a very American Miss Marple in "Murder With Mirrors." Of course, better known is the Joan Hickson version that appeared in the USA on Mystery Theatre.
Murder (but for what reason?), attempted murder (but was it really?), and a little stab at slow poisoning (if that is what it was) complicate things.
This story (also published under the title "Murder With Mirrors") was adapted for TV in 1991 with Joan Hickson in the role of Miss Marple and Jean Simmons as Carrie Louise.

I loved Bette at around this age in "The Watcher in the Woods," so I thought I would also get a kick out of this one...
but in "Murder with Mirrors," to be bluntly honest, she just looks very tired and really sick, and it's sad to see her trotted out and about for an underwritten, underused part, especially in a film as lame-ass as this one.
She should have been at home in bed resting instead of filming this dump of a picture; her involvement here is nothing short of borderline cruelty.

When shots are fired in a darkened room and the victim turns up elsewhere, Miss Marple deduces the identity of the killer, but not how the murder was committed until she discovers the secret hobby of a trusted cohort.
