I even e-mailed Murderecords and got a reply(it took about two days), and I got a nice hand written note along with my Cd's(I know, I know I should of bought "Peppermint" when I lived in Canada but I didn't).
I was told that the people at Murderecords that take care of the stuff hired some kids to do the mailing stuff.
I was also told that the guys(I am not talking about the Sloan boys but the guys they got to do the stuff) get busy making videos, going to the picture show, coffee and the other assorted stuff that I would also do if I was a Murderite.

 Murderecords History | SloanMusic.com
Murderecords is owned equally by myself and the three other members of Sloan.
Now, we were able to increase the profile of Murderecords by having Sloan not only own and run the label, but put our records out on it as well.
So, the other bands on Murderecords who weren't jumping to bigger labels and/or breaking up were told they should go and find a new home, as we couldn't afford the money or attention they deserved.

Like Tragically Hip and others before them, Sloan are a Top 10 gold record act and a household name in their homeland, yet one would be hard pressed to fill a phonebox with Sloan fans this side of Toronto.
There's the label they run, Murderecords (that is, Murder Records), whose roster has included such fine acts as Hardship Post, Thrush Hermit and the excellent Jale.
It must be a source of chagrin to the band that some Murderecords acts have gone on to bigger things than their label-masters have managed.

JALE emerged in 1994 with their debut girl-pop album 'Dream Cake' indicating a group barely able play their instruments, the album did sell 40,000 copies in markets such as Europe and North America.
As the band learned to play and write better, they released the EP 'Closed' (1995) on Murderecords.
MacLeod left soon after and was replaced by Mike Belitzky (Jellyfishbabies, Maker's Mark, Cheticamp) who helped nail down the coffin of 'the all-girl' label they'd been painted with.

SLOAN Pretty Together ON Murderecords BY SLOAN   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
With Nirvana releasing the rock 'n' roll rejuvenating 'Nevermind' the same year as Sloan's maiden release, the 'Peppermint' EP (Murderecords), the band found itself battling against the tide in a sea of anti-musicianship and was quickly pushed to the margin in favour of the new boss - grunge.
By the end of 1994, angry and disenchanted with DGC for not promoting its music in the U.S., Sloan decided to leave the label amidst growing rumours of a break-up.
But as good as the music is on the band's latest release, 'Pretty Together' (Murderecords), it's hard not to feel like the band's collective ambivalence about success, or its lack of it in their own eyes, hasn't begun to take its toll.

Early in 1992, they released the Peppermint EP on their own Murderecords, and by the summer, they had signed with the red hot U.S. major DGC.
Moving away from the ornately Beatlesesque production of the previous One Chord to Another, the sound on their next disc, Navy Blues, was more down and dirty and indicated a heavy Big Star influence, but its fuzzed-out guitars and lumbering drums were nevertheless emblematic of the sonic shifts which characterized the entire record.
A double live album, 4 Nights at the Palais Royale, was released by murderecords in 1999 as was a new studio effort on their own label entitled Between the Bridges.

 TrouserPress.com :: Sloan
Their adventures in the greater alterna-rock world may not have left an enormous cosmic dent anywhere else, but Sloan —; from the East Coast maritime city of Halifax, Nova Scotia — is a name young Canadians know.
Through their gold-in-Canada records, their Murderecords label and a strong gravitational influence on the modern sound of their region, the needlessly humble and exceedingly versatile quartet has not only made the great Northeast a better place in which to shake and pop but also helped haul Canadian rock into synch with the Anglo-American hipoisie.
When Ogilvie finished remixing the tracks that became Smeared, the band's sloppy, inexperienced punk enthusiasm had been decanted into sparkling, sublimely balanced punk-pop power that reveals the multiplicity of Sloan's influences.

The band has reached that rarefied goal of becoming self-sustaining without all of the rock star trappings.
They’ve relocated themselves and their record label, Murderecords, to Toronto.
They’ve done a bit of growing up and growing wiser and, in between the chords, harmonies, arrangements and the most focused, concrete set of Sloan lyrics yet, the Nova Scotian man-boys have created their most potent celebration of rock ’n’ roll’s still-powerful ability to save your uncynical soul.

After two albums released through the DGC branch of the US record company Geffen, Sloan is calling its own shots from a tiny, cluttered office in downtown Halifax.

As if to buck up the group's spirit, Twice Removed was named the best Canadian record ever in a magazine poll, beating classics by Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.

Sticktoitiveness comprises a good number of tracks from the Super Friendz' Murderecords releases, starting with a few selections from Mock Up, Scale Down and then moving onward -- since there's very little inconsistency in straightahead pop tunes which make up the band's catalog, the compilation comes out steady and stocked with three-minute gems.
The record's probable goal is to clue Americans to the excellent work of this domestically successful Canadian band, and it does this perfectly -- there are more snappy harmonies, crisp guitar constructions, and hooky melodies on Sticktoitiveness than can be found on entire shelves at most record stores.

Conceived and born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1991, Sloan soon began releasing albums on its own imprint, Murderecords, and garnering critical attention.
The band signed to DGC in the U.S. and released two albums, "Smeared" and "Twice Removed." Recorded in New York City in 1994, "Twice Removed" was critically acclaimed in the U.S. and Canada; it was named one of the "Ten Best Albums You Didn't Hear in '94" by Spin magazine.
Flash forward to 1999: After giving up on major labels entirely, Sloan gets back to its roots and releases its fourth full-length album, "Navy Blues," themselves on Murderecords.
