Located off the shore of Lake Murray and only ten miles from Columbia, the capital of South Carolina, Irmo was a sleepy little town of 500 people in the early 1970's.
Irmo was incorporated in 1890 and flourished along the tracks of the Columbia, Newberry and Laurens railroads on the high ridge between the rivers.

 Goosby Challenges Murray for Town Supervisor
Town of Hempstead Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby is well-known in the town's first councilmatic district, which includes a part of Freeport, Hempstead, Lakeview, Roosevelt, Uniondale and part of West Hempstead.
While she has been busy campaigning, Goosby, who was originally elected to the town board in 1999 and was one of the first Democrats to be elected to public office in the town since 1905, feels she is well-known in the town, mainly because of her successful efforts to change the town's voting system.
On the subject of town finances, Goosby said she would continue to ensure that town government remains fiscally sound and pointed to her involvement in the 2001, 2002, 2003 and now 2004 budgets as the experience needed to keep the town fiscally responsible.

In a letter dated March 9, 1992 to the DEC Region 8, the Town of Albion objected to the DEC acting as lead agency and requested that the Town of Albion be designated as the SEQR lead agency for the proposed sanitary landfill.
The Town argues that the anticipated impacts from the proposed actions are more of a local nature and as such the Town is better able to address those impacts.
The Town of Murray also sent a letter to the DEC on March 17, 1992 objecting to DEC acting as lead agency for the proposed Construction Demolition facility.

Southampton Town Code Enforcement officers conducted an extensive search of a waterfront house at 1040 Flanders Road in Flanders on Friday after numerous complaints that the single-family dwelling is being used improperly as an illegal apartment complex and a shelter.
The Town Attorney's office is evaluating the evidence and additional details will be available next week on the specifics of the investigation.
Supervisor Patrick Heaney said the property appears to have been used in severe contradiction to the Town Code and that significant safety concerns for the tenants of the house was the impetus for the search warrant.

They called their new school “The Murray Male and Female institute.” A contemporary historian, considered it, “the handsomest school structure west of the Tennessee River…an ornament to the town of Murray.” (14) A 1904 etching shows an imposing brick building, faced with stone, with a peaked roof and a cupola.
The doors in the entryway are oddly similar to the doors on the Murray Middle School building today.
The stonework on the 1922 building was salvaged from an earlier building; there is, therefore, a possibility that it is the same.

The 28-29 cowls look very similar to the 30-31.They don't have the cuved a pillar near the bottom and the gas tank is narrower and more rounded.
I can't remember exactly what the difference is, but the Town Sedan is a considerably more desirable body style, at least to restorers.
