Oita Prefecture is located on the north-eastern coast of the island of Kyushu.
Surrounded by the Suo Channel and Honshu Island to the north, the Iyo Channel and Shikoku Island to the east, it is bordered by Miyazaki Prefecture to the south, and Fukuoka Prefecture and Kumamoto Prefecture to the west.
Oita Prefecture is famous for its hot springs, particularly those in and around the city of Beppu, known as the 'hells', or jigoku.

Actual records held by Usa Jingu in Oita show his findings to be inaccurate with regard to the 8th Soke.
If someone needs a decent overall picture of Musashi's life, philosophy and the tradition he founded, this is it.

Miyamoto Musashi's sword school, Niten Ichi ryu has been taught in the Kyushu area of Japan for generations.
It still exists in Oita prefecture and is headed by the current soke (headmaster), Imai Masayuki.
He also says in most of his chapters after each explanation "This is an oral tradition" I am interested as to how you might have figured that bit out and do the 99% he does "not" mention in the book.

There are sword vs. sword kata for fighting with and without armor, and sword vs. _____ (with armor) kata, including two sword, short sword, bo, naginata, and yari.
I wouldn't be surprised if the two-sword moves in those kata have some connection to Musashi moves.
Present headmaster is 10th soke Imai Masayuki and is predominately known in Oita prefecture in Japan.

Musashi, by Yoshikawa Eiji, a novel about the life and times of Miyamoto Musashi 宮本武蔵, Japan's most famous hero.
I've seen parts of the Musashi dramas on TV, and I know that half the cities in Japan are named after him, but I never really knew anything about this guy.

It is believed that the capital of Bungo was located in the Kokokufu (古国府), literally "old capital," section of the city of Oita but to this day, no remains have been found.
The honor of the holiest Shinto shrine of Bungo province (豊前一宮, Buzen ichinomiya) was given to Usa shrine known as Usa hachimangu or Usa jingu in Usa district (today Usa, Oita).
Usa shrine had not only religious authority but also political influence to local governance, but their influence was reduced till the Sengoku period.

Kensuke was placed in charge of its construction.
