In 1913, Sultan Taimur bin Faisal became Sultan and the territory was renamed "Muscat and Oman" with the Sultan ruling Muscat and the Imam ruling Oman.
Muscat has a sizable expatriate population, mainly in the form of skilled and unskilled workers from the Indian subcontinent, the Sudan, Egypt and other GCC countries.
Muscat is one of the three headquarters of Gulf Air and the headquarters for the local-based airlines Oman Air, both of which fly to several destinations within the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent and East Africa.

The Muscat grape is unusual in one respect - it's a grape that tends to give its particular flavour to its wine no matter where it's planted.
In Italy it makes spumante, in Spain it's one of only three permitted grapes for sherry, in Greece they distil a Muscat wine to make their Metaxa brandy, in Peru they distil Muscat wine to make their national brandy, Pisco, and in Chile and Australia it's widely planted for blending with other whites.
Using the Muscat grape as part of cepage is fairly common, since even in small proportions it can add body and aroma to what might otherwise be flat and uninteresting wines.

BrightStation (the company which owned Muscat) closed down the OpenMuscat project and later ceased trading, but OpenMuscat lived on, renamed Xapian due to complaints about trademark infringement from BrightStation.
I don't think Muscat 3.6 has been available to buy for over 5 years, and even back then most external developers used a higher level API than the one which this module wraps.
