One of Mushishi's strength is its ability as a series to present a one-off story and characters that are easy to identify.
Despite all of the paranormal trappings that the series used, at its core the problem that the characters face, usually is similar to what normal people face on a daily basis.
But even then, the green hair colour used on the girl actually serves the storyline a purpose and not just a method to distinguish her from other characters.

One of Mushishi's best parts is the bittersweet endings most of the episodes have, but this one was even better than most.
The first things is the unfortunate news that Mushishi will only have 20 episodes air on TV instead of the full 26, 6 episodes will be released only on DVD.
Mushishi is going to be a live action movie pretty soon (I hope I'll be able to see that somehow!) but apparently so is Monster and Death Note.

Mushishi is indeed a good anime, because of some factors like the relaxing views and sound, the slow pace of narration and the nature-immersed scenarios.
It's about a mushishi (one who collects/studies mushi) named Ginko and his travels as he helps people who are 'affected' in a way by these strange creatures.
The anime is episodic with Ginko, the Mushishi traversing different villages trying to help people with their Mushi problems.

The most impressive thing about Mushishi is the effects animation, as I believe I may have mentioned before (it’s been a while since I last watched an episode!).
While there’s quite a lot of static scenery, the moments when the mushi come alive or when there’s liquid involved are all especially well rendered.
Aside from that, this was another strong episode; it’s interesting that Artland have chosen to open the series with three stories focusing on young children, considering that Mushishi is so squarely aimed at an older audience.

Now, I have a weakness for non-American pop culture tropes (Bollywood, Animé, etc.), and it’s important for me to realize that transsexual martial artists and song-and-dance action films are not always worth watching despite their foreignness and strange form requirements.
The mushi, when they interact with humans, can cause many ailments and the mushishi, as a sort of witch doctor/traditional healer, goes about matter-of-factly in each episode curing people of their strange ailment.
The setting appears to be traditional Japan, though Japan as an entity, or indeed any specific placenames, have been avoided in the episodes I’ve seen so far.
