Music for Pleasure (record label) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Music for Pleasure (or MFP) was a United Kingdom record label that issued budget-priced albums of popular and classical music.
The MFP catalogue consisted of both original material and reissues of existing EMI recordings, including records by "name" artists such as The Beach Boys, Blondie, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Animals and The Beatles.
The Beatles compilation double album, Rock 'n' Roll Music, was reissued on the Music for Pleasure label in 1980 as two separate single albums (MFP 50506 and MFP 50507).

King Pleasure - Music Downloads - Online
Bio: Along with Eddie Jefferson, King Pleasure was one of the early masters of vocalese -- a style in which lyrics are written and sung to the solos of jazz instrumentalists.
Although Pleasure cited Jefferson as his main influence and said that Jefferson was embracing vocalese before him, Pleasure's sax-like phrasing and scat singing proved equally influential.
Pleasure was still recording in the early '60s, but after that, he faded into great obscurity -- although the impact of his early work would remain long after his death on March 21, 1982 (only three days before what would have been his 60th birthday).

Music for Pleasure was a branch of EMI Records, and its recordings were sold not only in British record shops but also in drug stores and grocery markets.
In the field of musical theatre, Music for Pleasure's releases were studio casts of musicals, both classic and recent, mostly American but a few English.
Other British musicals that got Music for Pleasure LPs are The Arcadians (a turn-of-the-century comic operetta fantasy with a wonderful score), Bless the Bride (a '40s West End smash), the late-'60s Drury Lane show The Four Musketeers, Noel Coward's Bitter Sweet, and the World War I London smash Chu Chin Chow.

Get to the Feeling, Pleasure's fourth album, came out in 1978 and was followed by 1979's Future Now, which contained the hit "Glide." Pleasure's cult following really swore by the band, but it wasn't until "Glide" (which reached number ten on Billboard's R&B singles chart) that the funksters finally scored a Top 10 hit.

Dust Yourself Off - Pleasure - Music Reviews
And while the Blackbyrds had their share of major radio smashes, Pleasure's only major radio hit was 1979's "Glide." Produced by Henderson, Dust Yourself Off wasn't a favorite at soul radio but did earn Pleasure a small (and enthusiastic) cult following.
Pleasure's funk was tough and gritty -- the Oregon residents were as gutsy as Tower of Power and the pre-J.T. Taylor Kool & the Gang, both of which are influences on this LP.
In fact, "What Is Slick" is Pleasure's clever response to Tower of Power's "What Is Hip." But as gutsy as Pleasure could be, the band's willingness to incorporate jazz elements gave its funk a certain sophistication.

As sinister melodies are choked from a well-worn organ, vocalist Andrew Rothbard gives not-so-subtle hints to the band's underlying sense of depravity.
As a result of its mysterious imagery and allusions to dark excess, Pleasure Forever's self-titled debut was often considered a concept album that celebrated living life on the brink of collapse (landing on Buddyhead.com’s "Best of 2001" list with the following succinct summation: "Songs about drugs and orgies made with only guitar, piano, and drums").
Pleasure Forever, who have toured with the Damned, Les Savy Fav, Murder City Devils, Dead Low Tide and others, was once known as SLAVES, and all three members played previously in The VSS.

When their debut album, "Hit After Hit," was released in 2000, the band's catchy melodies and sophomoric (in a good way) lyrics represented a fresh and invigorating approach to poppy punk.
The band is reminiscent of Elastica in the video, but musically the band is more melodic and rocking, and there's little question that they have more sass and style than the nearly forgotten UK rockers.
His love of the foreign music he encountered is evident here with such acts as Enu Kabinets, who play a skewed style of pop and Inokentijs Marpls, who sound like a deranged mixture of Black Sabbath and the Melvins.

Hook and his collaborator David Potts still give the music a cool dance underpinning, but the intention of the duo is to marry the tuneful craftmanship of Britpop with modern sonics.
Although Potts' contributions tread too close to Oasis territory for comfort, Hook's songs are melodic, concise and catchy -- he hasn't sounded quite so fresh since the late '80s.
There are still a few dull moments scattered across the record, yet Music for Pleasure remains a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Exploding with opener "Permanent Solution," Hall stakes his claim as the great white hope of modern rock music, slapping the defibrillators on Mick and Keef, and scraping the moss off rock & roll's most visceral elements: whole measures of down-stroked power chords, ominous basslines, and blood-curlding sympathy for the devil.

A limited-edition release but one which will certainly satisfy those who enjoyed the first album, 'Music For Pleasure' is the second full-length recording from Jon Attwood AKA Yellow6.
The main criticism levelled at Attwood would be that these 11 tracks don't deviate noticeably from the formula of the first but when the music on offer is as quietly fascinating as this it seems churlish to complain.
This time there are moments of Durutti Column-like subtle, chiming guitars as well as Attwood's own superior mixing skills which sound up-to-date and vital rather than a hackneyed attempt at jumping the bandwagon.

The toaster accomplished this by striving for variety and being more musical than a lot of dancehall artists.
