Musical instruments used include the flute, the accordion, drums, guitars, the 'zambomba': a sort of drum, played by pulling a rope from within the drum and which is found also in other parts of Spain.
Moorish influences are notable in music in the region, for instance in the music during festivities, such as the festivities of the 'Misteri/Misterio' in Elche/Elx in the south of the Valencian region.
Musical instruments used include stringed instruments: guitars and the 'charanga' (a stringed instrument, a type of guitar) which is also used in Central- and South-America and drums and drumming instruments and percussion instruments.

She became interested in folk music while attending the University of Texas in the early '40s where she met and married John Henry Faulk.
With funding from the Rockefeller Foundation and sponsorship from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica, Alan Lomax arranged to record the music of the Lesser Antilles, the chain of islands that form the south-eastern edge of the Caribbean.
His idea was to document the musical and cultural commonalities that would support the Trinidadian and Jamaican plan for post-colonial Caribbean unity, which they hoped to realize through a West Indian Federation.

 Boricua music
The traditional music of the jíbaro, or Puerto Rican subsistence farmer, evolved from the music of the soldiers, farmers, artisans and enslaved Africans that settled on the island at the dawn of the seventeenth century.
These ancient colonists hailed from the southern region of Spain, the provinces of Andalucía and Extremadura; from the Canary Islands; and from West Africa.
The music was produced by an ensemble consisting of a cuatro, a scratch gourd called a guiro, and a guitar or another native instrument such as a diminutive tiple or a large bordonúa, instruments that have all but disappeared from the scene.

Unfortunately, as we explain on our site, because most collecting societies, especially in Europe (but not in the US), take an assignment of rights from the artist, artists who are members of these collecting societies are not free to CC-license their works.
On February 17th, 2006, the Lower Court number six of Badajoz, a city in Extremadura, Spain, rejected the collecting society’s claims because the owner of the bar proved that the music he was using was not managed by the society.
The music performed in the bar was licensed under CC licenses that allows that public display since the authors have already granted those rights.
