Travel Hong Kong World Music at Global Rhythm - The Destination for World Music
If Hong Kong has produced any notable indigenous music, we never came upon it: one is just as likely to hear American or British music blaring from radios as Canto-Pop, a Westernized, producer-controlled, overwrought mainstream dance-pop hybrid that is at its heart little more than an excuse to sell this week’s good-looking teen idol.
Hong Kong is divided into four main sections—Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, the main business and residential areas, and the Outlying Islands and New Territories, more rural, closer in temperament to the mainland.
Hong Kong is a city of many contrasts, where a noisy, smelly fish market clogs a narrow alley in the shadow of a looming skyscraper, and a McDonald’s sits comfortably next to a Buddhist temple.

Hong Kong hip hop - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Hong Kong hip hop scene first began in 1995 with the formation of LMF which was the first rap/rock group signed by a major record label, Warner Music.
Despite of the popularity of the now disbanded LMF, hip hop music continues to remain underground, led by independent artists, but the mainstream music industry of Hong Kong is still dominated by Cantopop.
However, the presence of hip hop music in Hong Kong in the shadows of Cantopop is strongly reflected by the collaborations between rappers such as MC Yan (from the now disbanded LMF) with pop artists such as Edison Chen.
