The Music of Spain is kind of a survey course in which you get to hear a lot of different Spanish music, progressing through time.
Outside of class you have to listen to music and write a commentary about one song for almost every class, or at least once a week, although at the beginning of the class written commentaries were not required and towards the end of the class we pretty much stopped turning them in.
You didn't have to be good at listening to music and hearing technical details to do well in class; you had to look up and learn about the history of the time period the music was from.
