Rationale: It is not very hard to see that there is no forum to discuss arabic music as a topic of its own, which is a shame, becuase this music is so rich, and getting forgotten in a lot of places.
A lot of traffic about the music takes place in the specific soc.*.* newsgroups of the countries of the Arab world, such as soc.culture.lebanon, as well as alt.music.world, but there is no central place to discuss the music.

The Apple Hill Chamber music players performed their superb music in the two Syrian cities of Damascus on February 12 at al-Assad Library and on February 13 at al-Safir hotel in Homs.
The visit is the third cultural exchange to be sponsored by the American Cultural Center in Damascus, the Syrian Ministry of Culture and the Syrian higher institute for music and drama.
The ensemble's first visit to Syria was in 1992, the second was in 1994.

There are many similarities between Arabic music and Arabic literature.
