Washington is bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west, Oregon to the south (the Columbia River forming most of this border), Idaho to the east and British Columbia, Canada to the north.
Washington is also notable for being home to four of the five longest floating bridges in the world: the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge, Lacey V. Murrow Memorial Bridge and Homer M. Hadley Bridge over Lake Washington, and the Hood Canal Bridge connecting the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas.

The music included a very polished new work by local composer Anthony Stark, two extended monologues for soprano and solo accompanying instrument (neither involving a piano), a piano-percussion duo and a jazzy ensemble piece full of charisma.
From this mix, no grand conclusions about the state of music in the world, or Washington, emerged; but there was plenty of entertainment, and even those pieces that didn't quite work suggested the germ of something that might, with a little tweaking, be developed into new and superior compositions.

Metal Church had initially began in the L.A. scene, but moved to Seattle and changed the members of the band, and was one of the most know metal bands from the 80's especially because of their albums "Metal Church" (1984), "The Dark" (1986), "Blessed In Disguise" (1989) and "The Human Factor" (1991).
In 1991 (see 1991 in music), Nirvana's Nevermind, along with Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, Pearl Jam's Ten and Alice in Chains' Dirt brought grunge to the top of the national charts, where it stayed for some years, until Kurt Cobain's death and the departure of several major bands.

I must say that the music of "Washington Square" is sincerely what won me over: the storyline is fine, it is difficult to watch (with Catherine so inept), but the music just absolutely made the movie for me: even if you don't for the movie at all, this music stands alone: decidedly recommended!
I recently saw the Washington Square movie on Starz and although I thought that the movie was just ok (I prefer the version with Olivia DeHavilland "The Heiress") the music blew me away.
When I saw the film I was enchanted with the music especially 'tu chiami una vita' I searched for the music thinking there must be a collection by Salvatore Quasimodo, but have not been able to find any recordings except on the movie's soundtrack.
